The Clay Room at Painted Earth gives individuals an opportunity
to freely express their creative talents in clay.
Our Clay Room studio is fully equipped with state of the art equipment and
out limited class size ensures personalized instruction.
Adult Beginning Pottery Wheel
For those with little or no experience, this course will lead you through the essentials of "throwing clay" on a pottery wheel. Our instructors will guide you in the fundamentals of wedging, centering, pulling, shaping and trimming. Students can expect to create variations of the basic cylinder such as mugs, vases and bowls.
4 session course includes 25 lbs of clay and bisque firing. $ 149
Kids n' Clay
Kids have a great time using their creative talents in our Clay Room. Basic skills of centering, opening and pulling will be taught on a pottery wheel. Students are also taught hand building techniques creating functional pieces and other works of art.
For Kids 9-15 yrs old
3 session course includes 15 lbs clay and bisque firing. $ 89
Introductory Class
If you ever have had any desire to use a pottery wheel, our introductory class will allow you to experience the thrill of using you hands to manipulate a lump of clay into a functional piece of art. An instructor will be on hand to wedge and center the clay for you.
2 hour class includes clay and bisque firing. $ 49
Pottery Wheel Workshops
For experienced potters or those who have completed our beginning pottery wheel class. Our 3 hour workshops have an instructor on hand for trouble shooting, demonstrations of new forms, last minute rescue, or help with a new project.
Clay and bisque firing not included $ 25
Hand Building Workshops
Learn how to build and create forms by hand using slab rolling, coiling and pinching techniques. Manipulate clay with forms and molds to create both functional and decorative pieces of art. All levels of students are welcome.
3 Hour workshop includes clay and bisque firing $ 45
Paint and glaze firing on clay room produced pieces range from $ 3-7 per item.
